Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the breakdown of an electrode by means of electric discharge between electrodes and to decrease the number of drivers, switches, etc. by a method wherein ink is jetted from the region of a recording electrode by means of the cooperative operation of the pulse voltages applied to the recording electrode and a control electrode. CONSTITUTION:When pulse voltages each alone of which cannot make up ink jet conditions are applied simultaneously to the recording electrode 8a and the control electrode 10a, they reach ink jet conditions by the cooperation of both pulse voltages and ink 3 jets from the region of the recording electrode 8a. This relation is similar between recording electrodes 8a, 8b and the control electrode 10a, between recording electrodes 8d-8f and a control electrode 10b, between electrodes 8a-8i and a control electrode 10c. The pulse voltages applied to the recording electrodes 8a-8i and the control electrodes 10a-10c take the same polarity and the breakdown of electrodes based upon discharge between electrodes can be avoided. In a method wherein the recording electrodes 8a-8i are divided into groups and connected in common, the number of drivers including the control electrodes 10a-10c can be reduced remarkably.
