Abstract
PURPOSE:To permit exchange of tools without stopping the rotation of a main shaft by rotating the main shaft at a low speed and reducing the thrust in the axial direction which acts on an exchanging arm before the flange part contacts with the key of the main shaft. CONSTITUTION:When tool exchange instruction is transmitted on completion of the work by a tool, the rotation of a main shaft is switched to low speed. A tool exchanging arm 13 holds both tools in a tool magazine and on the main shaft and draws-out them and turns by 180 deg., then the compressed fluid is supplied into the lower chamber 47 of a cylinder 44. The tool exchanging arm 13 is raised, and when the tool reaches the position immediately before the contact with the key of the main shaft which is rotating in a low speed, a limit switch 62 is actuated by the third dog 59, and a change-over switch 65 is returned to neutral position, and a change- over switch 69 is switched to the right position. Therefore, the pressure accumulated in an accumulator 70 is introduced, and the thrust in the axial direction is reduced, and the rising speed is decelerated.
