Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain uniform temperature distribution at the surface of a cooling head by providing a cooling gas injecting chamber under the cooling head and connecting it to a supporting body of a Joule Thomson type cooler. CONSTITUTION:The diameter of a protruded part 2a of the bottom side of the cooling head 2 which is fixed to a photoelectric converting element is larger than the long side of the photoelectric converting element 1. An opening part of a tube 5 is attached to the protruded part 2a, and the other opening part is sealed to a glass cylinder 3 which serves as a supporting body for the cooler. In this way the large diameter cooling gas injection chamber 6 is constituted by the protruded part 2a of the bottom of the cooling head 2 and the tube 5. High pressure cooling gas is injected into the injection chamber 6 from a nozzle 4a of the Joule Thomson type cooler 4 and liquified. Thus the temperature of the photoelectric converting element 1 is cooled to the vicinity of 77 deg.K.
