Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare a novel substance callus of Pinellia ternata BREIT. having antiulcer and antiserotonin action, by the tissual cultivation of a parent plant of the Pinellia ternate BREIT.
CONSTITUTION: A parent plant Pinellia ternata BREIT. is subjected to the tissual cultivation to induce a callus, which is then cultivated subculturally. The cultivated tissue is then extracted with ethanol or hot water to give a callus of the Pinellia ternata BREIT. exhibiting thin layer chromatograms of the extract with ethanol shown in (i)A and (ii)A in Fig. 1 and this layer chromatograms of the extract with hot water shown in (i)A and (ii)A in Fig. 2 [(i) indicates a mixed solution of chloroform with methanol (9:1) and (ii) indicates a mixed solution of chloroform with methanol and water (70:30:6) as a developing solvent; B indicates thin layer chromatograms of phytosterol obtained under the samd conditions], and the resultant callus is then used as an active constituent for an antiulcer agent and an antiserotonin agent.
