Abstract

PURPOSE: To quickly eliminate the air lock as well as to shorten the pump-up time by providing part of a hose coupling with a narrow groove connecting a channel to the outside in order to fill a pump room with water by removing air locked in the pump's channel or in the pump room.
CONSTITUTION: In the direction of fluid flowing outside a hose coupling 8 for a hose 6, a narrow groove 9 connecting a channel 22 in a pump 3 to the outside is engraved from the upper end of the hose coupling 8 as shown in the figure. With the above contrivance, the air locked in or around the channel 22 in the pump 3, the pump room 24, or an inlet port 21 escapes through the narrow groove 9 in order to fill the pump room 24 with water, which means the air lock is eliminated and the pump is ready to pump up water. Thus, when the pump 3 is placed underwater, the locked air gushes out from the narrow groove 9 which is provided outside a part of the hose coupling 8, so that the pump 3 obtains self-feeding condition, shorter pumping hours, and pumping work reliability.
