Abstract

PURPOSE:To maintain the temperature of a detector of radiant rays constant and to improve the accuracy of measurement, by cooling a accomodating room of the detector by a cooling mechanism and approaching or separating the radiant ray detector to and from an accomodating body of the material to be inspected. CONSTITUTION:Radiant rays radiated from the material to be inspected in a piping 1 is transmitted through a wall of the piping 1 and is reached to a radiant rays detector 6 and is detected. The temperature of the detector 6 is detected by a temperature detector 9 and a detector driving mechanism is operated in accordance with said temperature. When the temperature is high, the detector 6 is separated from the piping 1 and when the temperature is low, the detector 6 is drawn near the piping 1. Accordingly, the temperature of the detector 6 is kept constant and errors due to temperature fluctuation are decreased.
