Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled resin having excellent heat resistance, mechanical strength, end workability, by reacting an imide-ring-containing diisocyanate derived from a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride and a diisocyanate, with an epoxy compound.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compound is prepared by reacting (A) 1 equivalent of an imide-ring-containing diisocyanate compound obtained by the reaction of (a) 1 mol of a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride of formula I (R is tetra-valent organic group), e.g. pyromellitic dianhydride with (b) 1.2W2mol of a diisocyanate of formula II (R1 is bivalent organic group), e.g. tolylene diisocyanate, pref. at 50W 180°C, with (B) 1.5W10 equivalents of a compound containing two or more groups in the presence of a catalyst, e.g. a quaternary ammonium salt, pref. at about 100W200°C.
