Abstract
PURPOSE:To make the contact intimate of an active material with a collector, by cold-pressing the active material on a substrate after a film of light metal is formed on the surface by soaking a collector comprising a metallic substrate in a molten bath of a light metal such as lithium, or sodium. CONSTITUTION:Lithium is melted in an inert atmosphere, a collector which is washed and defatted previously is soaked in the molten bath for several seconds to several minutes, and drawn out and cooled to form a lithium film of 0.02-0.1mm. thick. Then lithium with a prescribed thickness and shape the surface of which is cleaned previously is pressed to form a negative electrode. Because oxides attached on the collector is reduced in the molten lithium and dusts are partially reduced and decomposed to remove completely inpurities on the surface of the collector, an alloy layer is formed favorably and the lithium layer is attached intimately on it, and the trouble due to infiltration of an electrolyte can be eliminated.
