Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a nozzle from being clogged and jetting direction from changing by a method wherein on completion of printing a nozzle cleaner is projected from the front side of a head and cleans the circumference of the nozzle. CONSTITUTION:On completion of printing the nozzle cleaner 5 provided on the upper part of an ink jet head 1 is moved and projected from the front side of the head 1. Then cleaning liquid 8 is jetted from the nozzle cleaner 5 and th ink attched to th neighborhood of the nozzle is washed off. Waste cleaning liquid runs into a cleaning liquid withdrawing part 10 provided on the lower part in front of the head 1 and is introduced into a withdrawing tank. Subsequently, gas 9 is jetted and the cleaning liquid left in the nieghborhood of the nozzle is blown off and dried. After completion of cleaning, the nozzle cleaner 5 is moved, returned to the original position and the electrode part is moved, set to an intended position and cleaning operation is finished.
