Abstract
PURPOSE: To utilize O2 efficiently at a maximum in an active sludge treating method which aerates gas containing O2, by varying the diameter of spouted air bubble so that the density of O2 in spouted gas and that in exhaust gas bear a specific relation.
CONSTITUTION: When gas containing O2 is aerated, the diameter of a spouted air bubble is varied according to the expression. In the expression, (a0) is the density of O2 in the spouted gas, and (a) is that in exhaust gas when 100% is regarded as 1. While the said expression is satisfied, gas having optional O2 density is spouted to maximize DO density, and O2 is utilized effectively at a maximum. In this case, the DO density has the least variations with the diameter of the spouted air bubble diameter for obtaining the operation conditions, and the operation is facilitated. Thus, the dissolution efficiency of O2 is improved and the O2 density in the spouted gas is reduced by about 30W50%.
