Abstract

PURPOSE: To form minute ruggedness on the surface of a hardened material with good reproduction by hardening the surface of material applied with an electron beam hardening liquid while forming to rugged shape in an electron beam irradiator, and then removing from the mold.
CONSTITUTION: An electron beam hardening liquid 3 is applied on a base material 1 by an applying device 2. This is sent to an electron beam irradiator 4, and brought into contact with a mold roll 5 to give it a shape. While it is in contact with the mold 5 an electron beam 6 is irradiated to harden the liquid in a moment. While being carried, the rugged hardened material is removed from the mold roll 5 and carried outside of the apparatus. If necessary, preheating or post-heating is made before or after irradiation of electron beam. By this way, a hadened material having an exquisite rugged surface and excellent in surface property can be obtained.
