PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head assembly which is easily fitted and fixed stably against external force while having high precision, by forming a back bar which constitutes the magnetic circuit of an erasing head in a channel shape, and inserting and fixing one leg into and in a coil for erasure. CONSTITUTION:In a magnetic head device wherein a recording and reproducing head 6 and an erasing head for erasing the edge parts of data are assembled, the erasing back bar 5 of the erasing head is formed nearly in a channel shape, and one leg is inserted into a coil 2 for erasure and fixed by using resin, etc. The length of the leg part inserted into the coil 2 is varied to adjust distance (l') from a core 1. The slanting-line parts in the figure are made of ferrite and the other part uses a nonmagnetic material. Thus, the erasing back bar 5 is positioned easily and fixed tightly against external mechanical force.
