Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve efficiency of storing a work pallet into a pallet storing rack by providing a work height sensor device which is operated when the work pallet is placed in the pallet storing rack in a machining system for use in controlling a group of machine tools.
CONSTITUTION: Work height sensor device 20a is arranged on a second conveyor 20 between the stacker feed-in/feed-out conveyors 18 (not shown) and 19 and on this side of the stopper 201, and a sensor plate 20c is pivotally arranged at the column 20b installed at the edge portion of the conveyor 20 with a desired height thereto. The work pallet is transported on the conveyor 20 as shown by the arrow and when the work hits the plate 20c, it is sensed by the limit switch 20d fixed at the side of the plate. The height of the work is limited to a height of the work pallet storing rack 16, so that if the height of a work is more than the limited height valve, an abnormal condition of the work is indicated to the operator, and causes the operator to inspect the work and replace it with another one.
