PURPOSE:To perform the two-sided recording with an optional number of original sheets regardless of an odd or even number, by avoiding the formation of an image on the 1st or 2nd surface side of a record sheet but by carrying the record sheet. CONSTITUTION:An original 3 is fed to an original board 4 to receive the exposure and development. Then the sheet fed and carried from the 1st or 2nd paper feed tables 24 or 25 is transferred and fixed and carried to a sheet inverting part 45 by the 1st guide 36 to be inverted up side down and then stored to a relaying tray 26 by the 2nd and 3rd guides 37 and 38 and via a transport path 46. Then the original is carried to the board 4 for copying on the 2nd side (rear surface) of the sheet, and at the same time the preceding original 3 is discharged to an original tray 5. When the tip of the original 3 is detected by a sensor 10, the original is sent to a transport path 49 within the tray 26. Then the image of the original is copied on the 2nd surface through the processes of exposure, development, transcription and fixing respectively like the 1st surface (upper surface).
