Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the malfunction of a senser and increase the durability of the system by a method wherein an electric current supplied to the senser is increased when the load is high and the output of an oxygen senser is less than a reference value and if the output is not increased, an impressing voltage for the heater of the senser is increased. CONSTITUTION:A comparator 28 supplies a H output to an AND circuit 29 when an oxygen density detecting signal S, outputted from the senser 4a, has become less than the standard value Vr. The AND circuit 29 obtains the coincidence between the output of the comparator 28 and the high exhaust gas temperature detecting signal Qb of a control circuit 18, and supplies the output thereof to an electric current supplying circuit 27 to increase the current supplied to the senser 4a. When the output of the circuit 29 is continued for a period of time longer than the delay time of a delay circuit 30, a switch 31 is closed and a high voltage same as that impressed upon a low load is impressed to the heater 11 to rise the temperature of the senser 4a. According to this method, carbon adhered to the surface of the senser 4a may be removed.
