Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as a raw material for the organic synthesis in high yield in a short time even in a closed system, by reacting a 1-olefin with a Grignard reagent in tetrahydrofuran in the presence of a specific catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: A 1-olefin of the formula R1-CH=CH2 (R1 is saturated or unsaturated alkyl or aryl which may have a substituent group as far as it is inert to the Grignard reagent) is reacted with the Grignard reagent of the formula R2MgX (R2 is alkyl or cycloalkyl substituted at the 2-position; X is Cl, Br or I) in tetrahydrofuran solvent in the presence of a catalyst of the formula Cp2TiCl2 (Cp is cyclopentadineyl or a derivative thereof) to give the aimed substance. The Grignard reagent is preferably isobutylmagnesium halide and used in amount of 1W5mol% ased on the raw material.
