Abstract
PURPOSE:To adjust the relation of position of a solid-state image pickup element with high accuracy and simple operation, by comparing a black-and-white pattern of a test chart and a picture element arrangement of a solid-state image pickup element. CONSTITUTION:When the width of a white region 1a and a black region 1b of a test chart 1 is projected on the arrangement of photodtectors of a solid-state image pickup element 2 and the result is just equal to the horizontal direction of photodetectors C1, C2..., the video signal in this case is alternate white and black as shown in (c). On the other hand, if the stripes of the pattern and the picture elements are shifted with each other as shown in (a) and (b), the video signal is a gray signal as shown in (e). This shows that the picture elements are shifted by 1/2-bit from the test chart 1, then correct alignment is needed. Further, the slope of the solid-state image pickup elements of two dimensional picture element arrangment can also be corrected by using the difference of signal outputs.
