Abstract
PURPOSE:To realize rapid judgement of the quality of battery performance, by measuring the temperature of a battery by means of an infrared rays sensitive thermometer at the end of the rapid charge of the battery. CONSTITUTION:A number of sealed nickel-cadmium storage batteris 2 are placed in a charging lac 1, and are subjected to rapid charge with a charge current of 1-1.5C. At the end of the charge of the battery 2, the temperature of the battery 2 is measured by means of an infrared rays sensitive thermometer 3 without touching the battery 2. The performance of the former rapid charge is judged according to whether the temperature of the battery 2 became over a given value. It is preferable that the results of the temperature measurements are judged by the degree of the temperature rise from an ordinary temperature, for example, from 20 deg.C.
