Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the preservation characteristic of a nonaqueous electrolyte battery, without making the battery performance worse than that of a battery in which a fluorine resin is used as a binding agent, by enabling the high temperature treatment of the battery by using polyimido resin as a binding agent. CONSTITUTION:After 80wt% of commercially available electrolytic manganese dioxide and 12wt% of acetylene black used as a conductive agent are mixed with a grinder, a solution (containing 8wt% of polyimido resin) prepared by diluting polyimido resin varnish used as a binder with a solvent is kneaded into the mixture powder. Next, the kneaded mixture is applied to a metal net used as a plate core before dried, and the plate core coated with the kneaded mixture is subjected to heat treatment carried out at 400 deg.C in an electric furnace for 2hr so as to obtain a positive electrode. The initial discharge characteristics and the preservation characteristics of a battery (A) of this invention and a reference battery (B) are compared in the figure. As is obviously seen from the figure, the initial discharge characteristic of the battery (A) is no worse than that of the battery (B), and the preservation characteristic of the battery (A) is an improvement of that of the battery (B).
