Abstract

PURPOSE: A corrosion inhibitor useful for a variety of metals used in a calcium chloride brine system, particularly for iron-base and copper-base metals, which is prepd. by using as an effective component a hydrazine and a triazole compd.
CONSTITUTION: A corrosion inhbitor for calcium chloride brine is prepd. by using as an effective component hydrazine, its hydrate, its inorg. acid salt such as hydrazine hydrochloride or its org. acid salt such as hydrazine acetate and a triazole compd. such as benzotriazole. The corrosion inhibitor exerts an excellent effect for inhibiting corrosion of iron-base and a copper-base metals in particular. A wt. ratio of N2H4 in the hydrazine compd. to the triazole compd. is suitably 1:0.005W10, pref. 1:0.05W5 in order to exert a synergistic effect. In the case of liquid corrosion inhibitor, it is adequate to contain 5W70wt% of the both components in total.
