Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent paper from being damaged when a cassette is mounted, in a copying machine removable with a cassette, by constitution such that a paper feed member is mounted to a rocking member and the rocking member is rocked by the removable cassette to separate the paper feed member from a surface of the paper. CONSTITUTION:A cassette 13 is inserted into an insertion part of a copying machine, then an engagement protrusive part 69a of a cassette main unit is adapted to an engaging part 46 of a rocking arm 45, and a paper feed roller 14B is lifted upward against a spring 59 till the roller is adapted to the second guide plate 37. Accordingly, the paper feed roller 14B is separated from paper in the cassette 13 not to turn up and damage the paper. When the engagement protrusive part 69a passes through the engaging part 46 of the rocking arm 45, the paper feed roller 14B is moved lower by urging force of the spring 59, and adapted to the paper, obtaining the paper feedable condition. At removal of the cassette, the paper feed roller 14B can be separated in a similar manner from the paper. In this way, folding and the like of the paper can be prevented, and damage and jam of the paper can be also prevented.
