Abstract
PURPOSE:To determine a suitable threshold level independently of the fluctuation of amount of light and lightness of an objective, by determining the threshold level for binary coding, and a peak value in a video signal at preceding scanning period, as reference values. CONSTITUTION:A video signal from a photo electric converting element 17 is amplified through an amplifier 18 to obtain a video signal 5. Peak hold circuits 20a and 20b are alternately operated with a switching device 19 to hold the peak value in one horizontal scanning period. Two switching devices 19 and 21 are synchronized and switched by one horizontal scanning period as a period. The video signal 5 and a threshold value 29 thus determined are compared at a comparator 24 to output a binary signal 25 from the result. The adjustment of a voltage generated from an adjusting voltage generating circuit 22 can be made by comparing an original picture with an obtained binary picture and determining a voltage so as to make both analogue.
