PURPOSE:To reduce the local damage and to increase the lifetime for a polishing dish, by vibrating or rocking a reproducing stylus in the right-angled direction to the working groove of the polishing dish and within the working groove for a polishing process of the stylus. CONSTITUTION:A polishing dish 6 is turned by a motor 18, and the tip part 2 of a reproducing stylus 1 is polished with a working groove 5 of the dish 6 by the press-contacting force of a spring 8. At the same time, an AC is applied to the coils 12a and 12b from an oscillator 14 to produce the magnetism alternately. Thus a supporting arm 10 having fixed magnetic substances 11a and 11b is vibrated with an amplitude of about 1/2 groove pitch in the right-angled direction to the groove 5. As a result, the part 2 of the stylus 1 held by the arm 10 is polished only by not the bottom part of the groove 5 but by both side parts of the groove 5.
