Abstract
PURPOSE:To achieve crosstalk-free, high-contrast image transmission, by forming materials, which eliminate leakage of light among optical fiber wires and space the wires, in one body with the wires as absorbers for light. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber wire 1 which uses quartz glass hard to vary optically with irradiated radiation for its core part 2 and is provided with a cladding part 3 is obtained. As optical materials for spacing said wires 1, numbers of heavy flint glass fibers which are easily colored by absorbing radiation are arranged as absorbing parts 4. Those are put in a glass pipe as a jacket and drawn while heated to obtain bundled fibers having prescribed diametes. When the bundled fibers are irradiated with radiation, e.g. gamma rays, the absorbing parts 4 are colored. Thus, crosstalk due to leakage of light is prevented to obtain bundled fibers which have high contrast during color image transmission and also transmit plural light signals.
