Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the device which can measure the mean flow rate accurately without receiving the effect of pulsation of the flow rate, by providing a buffer pipe which is opened in the direction which forms a right angle with an air flow at the top end of a flow measuring bypass provided on an air intake path. CONSTITUTION:An air cleaner 2 having an intake hole 3, a housing 4, and a clenaer element 5 is attached to the upper end of the air intake path 1 having a main venturi 6. In said air intake path 1, the bypass 7, whose outlet port is opened at the main venturi 6, is provided. A thermal type flow meter 8 comprising a hot wire 9 and a cold wire 10 is provided in said bypass 7. The buffer pipe 13 having a stopper 14 is arranged at the upper stream side of the bypass 7 so that it forms a right angle with the air flow along the upper wall surface of the housing 4 of the air cleaner. Therefore even though pulsation and ripples are generated in the flow rate, they are reduced by the buffer pipe 13 and the mean flow rate can be accurately detected.
