Abstract

PURPOSE:To extend and improve the service life remarkably by a method wherein an exhaust valve, opening when the pressure in the boots is positive, and a suction valve, opening when the pressure therein is negative, are provided at the attaching section of the boots to prevent the expansion or leakage of air in the boots. CONSTITUTION:A two-way valve system, consisting of the exhaust valve 16 and the suction valve 17, is provided at a fitting surface between the boots 8 and a shaft 2 through a boots band 7. The exhaust valve 16 has a lip section 16b, provided with an opening 16a free of opening and closing at the tip end thereof, is formed into an oval type conical shape, is projected toward atmosphere and is opened when the air pressure in the boots 8 is higher than the atmospheric pressure. The suction valve 17 has the lip section 17b, which is provided with the opening 17a free of opening and closing at the tip end thereof, is formed into the oval type conical shape, is projected toward an air chamer 17c communicated with the interior of the boots 8 through a venting groove 17d and is opened when the pressure in the boots 8 has become negative.
