CONSTITUTION:A detent mechanism 100 of a manual transmission is composed of a housing 101 which is fitted to a shaft and selecting shaft 71 in such a way that the housing 101 can be rotated but cannot be moved in the direction of shaft, a guide pin which allows movements in the axial direction by controls rotation, a lock ball (follower) 103 which is put in a fitting hole 71a in such a way that the ball can be projected from the hole, a spring 104 which is put in the hole 71a and energies the ball 103, and depressed groove parts 101a-101c which are installed in the inner wall of the housing 101 which are tied with the ball 103 with pressure along the direction of the periphery of the shaft 71. Since the housing 101, the ball 103, and the spring 104 move unitedly together with the shaft 71 at the time of selecting operation, the sliding resistance is practically eliminated and the feeling of the selecting operation is improved.
