Abstract

1498883 Hydrostatic transmission control; link work DEERE & CO 24 April 1975 [26 April 1974 1 May 1974] 16960/75 Headings F2W and F2K In a steering linkage controlling separate hydrostatic transmissions driving tracks on opposite sides of a vehicle and having pedals 44, 68 acting through linkages 40, 66 on steering control valve levers 30, 32, "feel" is provided in each linkage by a spring 60 that progressively resists movement of the associzated pedal 44 whilst the latter is reducing the output speed of the associated transmission to zero and a further spring 54 which provides an additional progressive resistance to movement of the assocciated pedal 44 when the latter reverses the associated transmission. The spring 60 acts between a fixed abutment 42 and a ring 58 fast with a rod 40 of the linkage whilst the spring 54 acts between a ring 52 which axially slidable on the rod 40 and an abutment ring 48 secured to the rod 40. During initial movement of the rod 40 the ring 52 is held against the abutment ring 58 and the spring 60 provides the "feel". When the transmission output speed is zero the ring 52 abuts a tube 46 fast with the fixed abutment 42 and thereafter further movement of the rod 40 is resisted by the combined action of the springs 54, 60. An interlock 84 prevents simultaneous movement of both pedals 44, 68 beyond their positions corresponding to zero output speed of their associated transmissions. Pins 94, 96 engage grooves 98, 100 in the pedals 44, 68 to limit movement of the pedals. An additional manual control acts through a linkage 28 (see Specification 1,498,882) on a control valve lever 118 which effects equal speed and direction changes in both transmissions. In Fig. 7 (not shown) the control pedals 44, 68 are replaced by hand levers.
