Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform a high-precise display of a current position, by a method wherein a unit running distance, found by means of a distance signal from a distance detecting means, is corrected by a predetermined distance correcting value. CONSTITUTION:A cassetted tape 3a, storing map data of a plural number of districts, is set to a reading device 3, a map data of a given district out of the districts is searched and read to store it in a RAM4c. Meanwhile, a current position of a car is found from distance signals from a bearing detector 1 and a distance sensor 2, and a current position is displayed on a CRT6 togetherwith the data map stored in the RAM4c. Through an external control, a distance correcting factor is inputted from a digital switch part 8, a unit running distance, obtained by means of a distance signal, is corrected by a distance correcting factor, and a current position is found from the corrected unit running distance. This prevents the occurrence of an error on a distance detection and permits the reliable display of a current position.
