Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the operation of a mixed-pressure geothermal turbine with only primary steam and prevent the abnormality of the turbine blades, by providing a shutoff valve in a by-pass line which connects the primary and secondary steam lines of the turbine to each other. CONSTITUTION:Geothermal steam is divided into primary steam and hot water by a steam and water separator 2. The hot water is changed into secondary steam by a flasher 7. The secondary steam enters into the halfway stage of a turbine 6. To operate the turbine 6 with only the primary steam because of the defectiveness of the flasher 7, a stop valve 15 is entirely closed and another stop valve 14 is opened to supply some primary steam to a secondary steam line 10 so that both the primary steam and secondary steam flow into the turbine 6. As a result, the initial cost of the turbine 6 is prevented from increasing, and the operation of the turbine is continued with only the primary steam so that the turbine blades are not exposed to abnormalities.
