Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable to guide an underwater traveling body smoothly, by a method wherein the suspending weight of a guide rope having an end part dragged on the seabed is balanced with the buoyanc of a traveling body to maintain the body at a predetermined height above the seabed. CONSTITUTION:The underwater traveling body 1 is propelled forwards by a propeller 2 operated by a bydraulic oil fed from a hydraulic oil tank 3. The propeller 2 is controlled by a valve control unit 7 which operates based on a command fed through a guidance wire 11. The guide rope 9 is suspended from the body 1 toward the seabed, and the free end of the rope 9 is kept in contact with the seabed, so that the body 1 is stabilized at a position where the buoyancy thereof is balanced with the suspending weight of the rope 9. Accordingly, since the traveling body 1 can be maintained at a predetermined height above the seabed by adjusting the buoyancy thereof, accuracy of position is enhanced and the body 1 can be guided smoothly.
