Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress the rise of temperature of a circuit element for excitation by such as arrangement wherein the temperature of a circuit elemnt for excitation is indirectly monitored by obtaining the density of dots of a dot pattern to be printed and printing operation is caused to pause in response to the density of dots at the time of line shifting for printing. CONSTITUTION:A print operation control unit 14 using an operation circuit primarily composed of subtractor, etc. performs operations based on information from a dot density monitor unit 13 and when the result of operation becomes higher than a specified value, it sends out to a line shifting control unit 11 an instruction which designates the period of pause corresponding to the density of dots of a dot pattern. By this, the line shifting control unit 11 postpones the outputting of a line shifting completion information which is to be given to a print control unit 1 in response to the completion of line adding movement by the length of the period of pause, therefore a print instruction from the print control unit 1 is caused to pause even if line shifting is completed and during such a pause, a circuit element for excitation is cooled.
