Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect defective abrasion of tools stably by dissolving an acoustic emission signal into signal components in two frequency ranges, obtaining the amplitude ratio between both signal components, averaging them for a certain time, and comparing it with a predetermined threshold value. CONSTITUTION:An AE signal, after performing impedance conversion, is amplified and goes through bandpass filters 14, 15 and is detected by detectors 16, 17. Next, a ratio X/Y between an amplitude X of the signal component in a specific frequency range f1-f2 from the detector 16 and an amplitude Y of the signal component in a frequency range f0-f1 from the detector 17 is generated in a divider 18, and it is fed to a comparator 20 through an averaging circuit 19 so as to be compared with a threshold value VL. Thereby, a phenomenon that the AE signals continue for a longer time than a certain period under abnormal abrasion can be utilized to distinguish from the AE signals with a short duration occurring due to collision by chips, etc.
