Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a developer causing no deterioration in the characteristcs and fit for a printing plate by reacting carbon black or an org. pigment with a polymerizable monomer contg. halogen, polymerizing the resulting monomer, and dispersing developer particles contg. the colored polymer in a highly insulating liq. carrier. CONSTITUTION:Carbon black or an org. pigment such as aniline black is reacted with a polymerizable monomer contg. halogen such as 2-chlorolauryl methacrylate in the presence of Friedel-Crafts catalyst, and this colored monomer is subjected to dispersion polymn. in a highly insulating hydrocarbon such as n-hexane or ''Isoper EG '' in the presence of a polymn. initiator. The resulting dispersion is diluted with an adequate amount of said solvent, and by adding a polarity inhibitor, etc. as required, a liq. developer is obtd. This developer has high shelf stability, causes no deterioration in the characteristics such as dispersion stability and fixability even after repeated use, and is fit for manufacturing an offset printing plate with superior sensitivity.
