Abstract

PURPOSE:To heighten the working efficiency of a water flow swirling valve which is used to prevent solids in the fluid from adhering to a heat exchanger or the like, by combining two half segments of elliptic valve with each other to put them in contact with the inside surface of a water supply pipe on a plane obliquely intersecting the pipe, so that the clearance between the inside surface of the pipe and the valve elemnts is made smaller. CONSTITUTION:A water flow swirling valve 20 comprises two half element 21, 22 provided in a water supply pipe 7. The half elements 21, 22 are rotated by a prescribed angle about shafts 23, 24 to swirl flowing water as shown by arrows in the drawing. The half elements 21, 22 are shaped as two halves 25, 26 of an ellipse which is defined when a plane extending obliquely at an angle of alpha to the axis of the water pipe 7 intersects it, so that the clearance between the inside surface of the pipe and the peripheral edges of the half elements is almost zero. As a result, the flowing water is efficiently revolved.
