Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce Na hydrocarbon dispersion of high quality by dispersing a melt of industrial Na contg. Ca in hydrocarbon and cooling the same in an inert gaseous atmosphere in the presence of Na oxide and molecular oxygen. CONSTITUTION:Industrial Na contg. Ca which is an impurity is heated and melted in an Na melting tank 1, after which it is charged at 45-60% ratios into a mixing tank 2 contg. arom. hydrocarbon such as toluene, where these are stirred vigorously, and a dispersion assistant such as oleic acid is added at 1-5% ratios to these from a tank 3. Air or Na oxide such as Na2O is added under stirring at 100-1000ppm ratios expressed in terms of O2, and at the point of the time when the dispersion of Na ends, hydrocarbon such as benzene is charged into a quick cooling tank 4, whereby the mixture is quickly cooled. The dispersion of Na is cooled quickly, and the molten Na particles solidify as solid Na particles, whereby the Na hydrocarbon dispersion of uniform and stable grain sizes is obtained.
