Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a reproduced image having an equal resolution level between the vertical and horizontal image although the vertical and horizontal picture element pitches are different for a photodetectingarray, by varying the vertical and horizontal magnification ratios of a subject and forming an image of the subject on th photodetecting array through a vertical/horizontal varible magnification optical system. CONSTITUTION:The light given from a subject 1 having a pattern (a) forms an image 8 corresponding to the vertical and horizontal picture element pitches of a photodetecting array 3 as shown by (b) on the array 3 by a vertical/horizontal variable magnification optical system 2. Thus the array 3 converts the image 8 into the electric signals and feeds them to an electric signal process system 5. As a result, a display device 6 receives the image signal from the system 5 and displays a reproduced image 7 of a pattern (c). In such way, the pattern (a) of black and white squares is changed to a flat one on the array 3 as shown by (b). Thus a reproduced image having an equal resolution level between the vertical and horizontal image is displayed like (c) at the device 6.
