Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce a clad type vibration-damping steel plate of high vibration- damping performance by forming plating layers of low m.p. metals on the clad surfaces of two sheets of steel plates, or further interposing metallic powder of large attenuation power or graphite, carbon fibers or the like between the clad surface, melting the plating layers and press welding these. CONSTITUTION:In the stage of producing a clad type vibration-damping steel plate, plating layers of low m.p. metals such as Sn, Zn, Al and Cu and their alloys are formed on the clad surfaces of at least one of two sheets of steel plates, and these plates are superposed through said plating layer surfaces. These are heated to temps. higher than the melting temp. of the plating layer metals to melt the plating metals, then the plates are press-welded and rolled. Or powder of metals such as Mg, Zr, Al, Cu, Ni, Cr, Pb, Ti or the like of large attenuation power or their alloys or graphite, carbon fibers, glass wool or the like is interposed between the clad surfaces of two sheets of said steel plates and the plates are press-welded in the same manner as above. The clad type vibration-damping steel plate of which the vibration-damping performance has no temp. dependency and which has superior formability and weldability is obtained.
