Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate maintenance by making an upper unit openable and closable with respect to a lower unit, and holding a photoreceptor holding means movably downward at the upper unit while holding the upper unit open. CONSTITUTION:A machine body 1 can be separated to an upper unit 1A and a lower unit 1B, which are made openable and closable by means of hinges provided on one side surface. A photoreceptor holding means 8, an optical unit 12 and a developing device 16 are provided to the unit 1A, and an electrostatic charger 22, a belt 26 for conveyance, and a fixing device 33 are provided to the unit 1B. Therefore, when the unit 1A is opened, the belt 26 can be exposed, and since the means 8 can be detained in the opened state up to the intermediate of the units 1A, 1B, the removal of clogged paper and the inspection of the unit 12 are performed easily.
