Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled polymer haing high heat resistance, weather resistance and ozone resistance, in high efficiency, by hydrogenating the carbon- carbon double bond of a conjugated diene polymer using hydrogenation catalyst having specific surface area and DBP oil absorption.
CONSTITUTION: The carbon-carbon double bond of a conjugated diene polymer (e.g. an acrylonitrile-butadiene copolymer) is hydrogenated using a hudrogenation catalyst supported on a carrier. The hydrogenation catalyst is obtained by supporting a hydrogenation catalyst such as Pd, Rh, etc. on a carrier comprising carbon black having a specific surface area of at least 800m2/g and a DBP oil absorption (JIS K6221) of at least 250ml/100g. The hydrogenation reaction is carried out by charging the catalyst together with the conjugated diene polymer in an autoclave, and heating the content under hydrogen pressure.
