Abstract

PURPOSE:To carry out a quick analysis treatment with a simple continuous operation, by mixing a reagent containing strong nonvolatile alkali with water to be inspected and separating gaseous ammonia by a gas-liquid separation means and then, determining nitrogen monoxide obtained by oxidizing said gaseous ammonia. CONSTITUTION:A fixed quantity of water to be inspected is flowed into a mixer 10 through a quantitative pump P1 and a pipe conduit 11 and also, a fixed quantity of a reagent for volatilizing an ammonia ion to gaseous ammonia is flowed into the mixer 10 through a quantitative pump P2. Mixed solution from the mixed 10 containing volatilized gaseous ammonia is flowed through a flow passage 15 of a gas-liquid separation means 2 through a pipe conduit 12. Only gaseous ammonia in the mixed solution is permeated from the passage 15 toward a flow passage 16 through a partition wall 13. The wall 13 is formed by air-permeable porous hydrophobic materials. Said gaseous ammonia is converted into gaseous nitrogen monoxide flowing through a reactor 5 together with zero gas from a zero gas supply means 3 and gaseous nitrogen monoxide is introduced into a detection means 4 through a pipe conduit 27 and then, is determined.
