Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to generate electric power, by damming up water of an inland sea at the inlet of a bay or a gulf at the time of high tide, and discharging water stored in the bay to the open sea at the time of low tide. CONSTITUTION:The strait of Naruto is shown as numeral 1 in the drawing. Construction of electric power plant at such a strait is difficult since various conditions are not suited for the purpose. However, according to the present invention, water gates or the like 3 are closed automatically at the inlets of an inland sea 2 near a strait at the time of high tide, and a great amount of sea water thus stored in the bay is discharged automatically from a power plant 4 at a constant rate controlled thereby. The water discharged from the power plant 4 is passed through a water discharge passage 5 and discharged to the open sea 6 at the time of low tide. Thus, power is generated through utilization of the water head.
