Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible, in a electrolytic chromate treatment or the like for a steel band, a continuous treatment wherein only one surface of the steel band is treated or both the surfaces thereof are differently treated, by forming an electric circuit with a felt roll impregnated with an electrolyte in contact with the steel band surface.
CONSTITUTION: In a case that a steel band 1 that is plated with zinc is subjected to electrolytic chromate tratment, Ni flush plating or the like, the felt roll impregnated with an electrolyte is allowed in contact with the steel band 1. A skin 11 of the roll 1 is made of felt, and the roll shaft 12 comprises a hollow and electrically conductive body. The electrolyte fed from an inlet 14 of the roll shaft 12 flows through the hollow roll shaft 12, and spouts via a number of openings 13 in the shaft 12 onto the felt roll skin 11 to adhere to the surface of the steel band 1. Consequently, an electric circuit is formed between the felt roll and the steel band to perform the electrolysis treatement.
