Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent an electrolysis voltage from rising, by integrating an anode active material and a cathode active material respectively with surfaces of a cation exchange membrane, and connecting the surfaces of the membrane respectively with porous collectors. CONSTITUTION:Partitions 6 are mounted to chamber frames to define anode chambers and cathode chambers, and each partition 6 is connected with the porous collectors 9, 10 mechanically and electrically via connectors 7, 8. A cathode active material is integrated with one surface of each cation exchange membrane, and a anode active material is integrated with the other surface thereof to obtain an electrode/membrane composite 11. The side of each of the electrode/membrane composition 11 where there is the anode active material is placed in contact with the anode side porous collector 10, while the other side where there is the cathode active material is placed in contact with the cathode side porous collector 9 and in this manner a plurality of the chamber frames successively sandwitched to be assembled into a filter press type electrolytic cell for electrolysis.
