Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve a current collecting characteristic and mechanical strength of a zinc-halogen battery with a double comb-shaped electrode structure by forming a conductive bus-bar and a zinc electrode group in one body beforehand and fitting a halogen electrode group on the opposite side of the bus-bar. CONSTITUTION:A comb-shaped structure 3, composed of a group of zinc electrodes 2 arranged on one side of a bus-bar, is produced out of fine graphite block by cutting. During this process, vertical grooves are formed on the opposite side to the zinc electrodes 2 of the bus-bar 1 and alternately with each of the zinc electrodes 3. A chlorine electrode 4, formed into a box-type permeable electrode with two porous graphite plates processed separately and mounting frames, is inserted and fitted in each of said grooves of the bus-bar 1 to make up double comb-shaped electrodes. These double comb-shaped electrodes are inserted and fixed in grooves of a battery jar 5. The bus-bar 1 and the chlorine electrodes 4 are connected together with current collectors 6 made of titanium plates.
