The inside diameter of the liuminous tube 1 is set to 22mm., the effective luminous length is set to 250mm., the lamp voltage is set to 290-340V, the lamp current is set to 7.6A, and the standard lamp power is set to 2,000W, and mercury, iron iodide, copper iodide, and argon acting as a starting rare gas are sealed in the luminous tube 1. The optimum amount of copper sealed in the luminous tube 1 is assigned so that the gram atomic ratio of copper to iron may stay in a range form 1/50 to 1/15.
