Abstract

PURPOSE:To form latent image charge on a dielectric element by respectively applying voltage to plural recording electrodes and plural auxiliary electrodes and also applying prescribed recording voltage between the recording electrode and a conductive element which is opposed to the recording electrode which interposes a charge carrying dielectric element. CONSTITUTION:Voltage -V1 unsufficient for the formation of a latent image is applied to stylus drivers 14A1-14An and 14B1-14Bn, absolute voltage V1+V2 unsufficient for the formation of latent image and voltage -V2 sufficient for the formation of latent image are applied to segment drivers 151-15m. In case of recording by the 1st stylus 11A1 in a multistylus 11, transistors in the segment drivers 151, 152 are turned off and the voltage of -V2 is applied to auxiliary electrodes (1211, 1221), (1212, 1222). At the same time the drivers 151, 152 are turned on, the driver 14A1 is turned on and the voltage of -V is applied to the styluses 11A11, 11A21... Recording voltage of about V1+V2 is applied only between the stylus 11A11 and a conductive element 16dl opposed to the stylus 11A11 while putting the a charge carrying dielectric element 16cl between the stylus 11A11 and the conductive element 16dl.
