Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce a large-sized curved reflector to be used for the utilization of solar energy or the like by uniting a mirror obtained by forming a light reflecting film on thin plate-like chemically tempered glass with the surface of a curved rigid member by using its flexibility at a cold condition. CONSTITUTION:An optical reflecting film is formed on the surface of chemically tempered glass with <=2mm. thickness by using silver application and then coated with a protective coating to prepare a mirror 3. Since the thin plate-like mirror 3 is flexible, it can be bent sharply like a curved surface at room temperature. The mirror 3 is curved along the surface of a rigid member 5 formed by bending an intermediate member with honey comb structure and united with the rigid member through adhesive 6 to prepare a parabolic concave reflector (a). By arranging a heat collecting pipe (b) on the focal position of the concave reflector, a large-sized curved reflector to be used for the utilization of sun energy is provided. The reflector using chemically tempered glass with <=2mm. thickness, preferably about 0.3-1.0mm., is worked into various shapes such as a paraboloid of revolution.
