Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently carry out the cooling of an electric motor, by cooling both the upper coil end and lower coil end units of the motor in this way splitting the refrigerant gas discharged out of the scroll compressor. CONSTITUTION:The high pressure gas discarged out of a discharge opening 12 upon compression at a scroll compressor unit 2 flows around an electric motor unit 3 past a refrigerant gas passage 17 and a connection pipe 8 through. This gas partially flows downward along an electric motor unit 3, cooling a lower coil end 14 and the rest of gas flows into an upper coil end 15 while turning around the motor 3, and finally it is discharged out of the closed receptacle after having the upper coil end 15 cooled. Like this way, since the refrigerant gas is split in a passage 19 or 20 or either, no hydraulic fluid is blown off toward a discharge pipe located upside. And, what is more, this refrigerant gas flows around the whole boundary of a stator 3b and thereby a cooling effect is excellent.
