Abstract

PURPOSE:To correct the white balance accurately with a simple adjusting operaion, by operating a pair of level adjusting means while interlocking with each other to move the white balance point across the second and the fourth quadrants on the plane of orthogonal coordinates formed with blue and red primary color difference signal axes. CONSTITUTION:Respective signal levels of a correction signal +DELTAEY2- DELTAEY1 which are given to a blue primary color difference signal EB-EY and a red color primary color difference signal ER-EY, which are obtained from a color image pickup device 1 through a matrix circuit 2, by a white balance correcting circuit 3 are varied by a pair of level adjusters 14B and 14R which are operated while interlocking with each other. In this case, a white balance point WP is moved across the second quadrant D2 and the fourth quadrant D4 on the plane of orthogonal coordinates formed with an axis EB -EY and an axis ER-EY. Thus, the white balance correction performed in accordance with various photographic conditions is performed with a simple operation to obtain a color synthesized signal through an encoder 4.
